THE VERY LARGE BULK CARRIER M/V MAXI BRAZIL TO TRANSIT SUEZ CANAL FOR THE FIRST TIME UNDER OUR AGENCY ON 26.05.2012

ALBAHRIA SHIPPING CO. SUCCEEDED TO ARRANGE WITH SUEZ CANAL AUTHORITY
THE TRANSIT OF THE VERY LARGE ORE CARRIER “MAXI BRAZIL” .  THE LARGEST LOADED BULK CARRIER TO TRANSIT SUEZ CANAL SINCE ITS INAUGURATION IN 1869.

THE TRANSIT OF MAXI BRAZIL PRESENTED A CHALLENGE  DUE TO HER SIZE , 265000 MT DWT, 330.- M LOA, 54.- M BEAM , AND A DRAFT OF 62 FEET.

WITH OFFICIALLY DECLARED RESTRICTIONS OF SUEZ CANAL, SUCH VESSEL WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO TRANSIT WITH THE DRAFT OF 62 FEET. BUT WE HAVE APPLIED TO SUEZ CANAL AUTHORITY BEFORE VESSEL TRANSIT TO GRANT EXCEPTIONAL TRANSIT DRAFT FOR THE FEASIBILITY OF THE VOYAGE.

AFTER EXTENSIVE STUDIES, CALCULATIONS,  AND MEASUREMENTS DONE BY SUEZ CANAL AUTHORITIES, DURING WHICH WE HAVE BEEN CLOSELY MONITORING WITH THEM AND HAVE BEEN PROVIDING THEM WITH ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AND PLANS,  AN EXCEPTIONAL TRANSIT DRAFT WAS GRANTED.

THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL TRANSIT IN MAY 2012 LOADED WITH IRON ORE WAS FOLLOWED BY NUMEROUS TRANSITS IN BALLAST AND LADEN CONDITIONS UNDER ALBAHARIA SHIPPING AGENCY IN 2012 AND 2013.
